Change of Command at Joint Command Southeast Gen. Vecihi AKIN Garrison, Sirinyer, Izmir -- General Akbas, Commander, Joint Command Southeast is going to handover the command to Lieutenant General Ataman with a ceremony on Monday August 13, 2001 at General Vecihi Akin Garrison. Admiral James O. Ellis, Commander in Chief, Allied Forces Southern Europe will officiate the ceremony. The ceremony begins at 16:30 and ends with a parade following speeches by Admiral Ellis, Gen. Akbas and Lt. Gen. Ataman. Having handed over the command to Lt. Gen. Ataman, who is promoted to General valid August 30, 2001, Gen. Akbas will assume command of Turkish 3rd Army on August 15, 2001.
