NATO’S IMMEDIATE REACTION FORCES EXERCISE IN TURKEY
?zmir, TURKEY- 16 NATO nations will train together in exercise Adventure Exchange 2001 (ADVEXC 01) in Turkish Thrace from 01 until 25 October 2001.
ADVEXC 01 belongs to a cycle of exercises designed to train the high readiness “Immediate Reaction Task Force (Land)”, (IRTF(L) ).
Over 5000 troops from sixteen NATO member nations will participate: Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway,Poland, Portugal Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States of America.
These forces will form a multinational HQ and a multinational Immediate Reaction Task Force, to conduct a Command Post Exercise (CPX)and a Live Field Training Exercise in the areas of Tekirda? and K?rklareli, in Turkey. The ground and air forces involved will test and practise their operational procedures and logistical capabilities in a multinational environment.
Exercise ADVEXC 01 is one of the largest exercises planned for this year in NATO's European Southern Region and shows NATO's committment to peace and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area.
Exercise ADVEXC 01 is scheduled by Admiral James O. Ellis, Jr. Commander-in-Chief, Allied Forces Southern Europe (CINCSOUTH), directed by General Oktar Ataman, Commander, Joint Sub-Regional Command Southeast (COMJCSOUTHEAST) and supportedby Lieutenent General Ronald E. Keys Commander Air Forces South (COMAIRSOUTH).
