1.   Exercise overview:

TYPE : Exercise Cooperative Determination 01 is a NATO/ Partnership for Peace command post exercise conducted at multinational brigade level. The exercise uses computers to replicate tactical units.

AIM : Exercise Cooperative Determination aims to enhance military interoperability for Peace Support Operations and Humanitarian Assistance Operations among the participants..

Exercise Cooperative Determination 01 was scheduled by Commander-in-Chief of the NATO regional headquarters SOUTH (CINCSOUTH) and will be conducted by Commander Joint Command SOUTHEAST (COMJCSE) in Baku, Azerbaijan, 5-16 November 2001.

Service members from NATO and partner nations will form a multinational brigade headquarters and a medical facility to satisfy the military interoperability requirements and to meet the exercise objectives for selected training tasks.

A multinational medical facility will be established to provide medical support for the local population. The medical facility will provide a realistic dimension to the training and a tangible benefit to the local Azeri people.

2.  Nations participating:

NATO NATIONS: France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and the United States.

PARTNER NATIONS: Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia1, Georgia, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia and Switzerland.

HQ/OTHER ORGANISATIONS: Joint Command Southeast, Joint Command Southwest, AIRSOUTH, Allied Forces Southern Region , International Committee of the Red Cross, United Nations High Commission for Refugees.
