JOINT COMMAND SOUTHEAST DEPLOYS PERSONNEL TO THE BALKANS IZMIR, Turkey – Sixty-two military personnel from Joint Command Southeast will start deploying today to various headquarters in the Balkans to serve for six months in support of ongoing humanitarian and peacekeeping operations. Soldiers, sailors, airmen and one civilian from Greece, Italy, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States will be swiftly integrated into the existing command posts in Skopje, FYROM*; Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina; Pristina, Kosovo; Tirana, Albania; and Naples, Italy. Joint Command Southeast is one of the headquarters supporting the efforts of the international community aimed at fostering stability and establishing a safe and secure environment in the Balkans region. Besides the day-to-day commitment to support these headquarters, JCSE provided 152 military personnel from September 2000 to April 2001 to support the Kosovo Force. On Wednesday the Commander JCSE, Gen. Oktar Ataman, addressed the deploying personnel at Vecihi Akin Garrison.
